DESCRIPTION

A timeless wardrobe staple, our embroidered pants are inspired by classic chino trousers with a more relaxed fit. We added hand-embroidered motifs, front pockets, tagua buttons plus elastic-back waist line for a flattering mid-rise fit.

Before starting our meetings with our artisan partners we always warm up our creativity with a painting exercise. The embroidered designs were first painted by artisans after being asked “What did you notice today?” You’ll see the bird, river, flower and step motifs that were taken from their paintings and then hand embroidered on to each pant set one by one.

SIZING

Our embroidered pants are designed for a slightly looser fit that sits mid-hip. If you'd like a baggy fit that sits lower on the hips, we suggest sizing up.

Gabby with brown hair is wearing a size Medium pant. Gabby is 5'7". She generally wears a size 8 (size 28) or Medium in pants.

MATERIALS + PROCESS

The cotton fabric is crafted in a small, family-run workshop, then each garment is carefully cut and sewn by skilled women artisans. delicately hand-embroidered by indigenous women from Santa Bárbara, Angla and Ugzha in Imbabura, Ecuador.

Our embroidered trouser pants are cut, sewn and embroidered by hand. This means they are one-of-a-kind and almost all contain irregularities from size to color. Please allow for slight imperfections as no two pants are alike—each one carries the signature of the hands that made it.

Each piece in this collection is carefully handmade and crafted from 100% cotton. To preserve its beauty and longevity, we recommend dry cleaning your garmet or secondarily. Lay flat to dry and avoid using a dryer, as heat can damage the natural fibers and shape. Treat it gently—just like the hands that made it.

You’ll see the bird, river, flower and step motifs that were taken from various artisans' paintings and then hand embroidered on to each pair of pants one by one.

A Thoughtful Process—

These pants are the result of a series of careful artisanal processes. The cotton fabric is made in a small, family-run workshop, and each garment is cut and sewn by the hands of women.

The assembled pieces are individually screen printed by hand, and finally, delicately hand-embroidered by indigenous women from Santa Bárbara, Angla and Ugzha in Imbabura, Ecuador.

Hand embroidery is a traditional technique in Imbabura with its roots beyond five generations. Women in this province embroider their own shirts with colorful patterns inspired by nature.
